Marion Miller - a tribute
Marion Miller, a founding member of Radcliffe, died earlier this year.
Marion Miller was a founding member of Radcliffe Housing Society. She qualified as a quantity surveyor and with her husband Norman set up the association in Croydon in1965. Marion was motivated by a desire to help young people in particular who were unable to buy and needed affordable rented housing. Using the grant funding provided by the Housing Corporation Radcliffe grew steadily and built new homes throughout Bromley and Croydon. Following her retirement as Chief Executive in 2002 she joined the Board as a non-executive director and in 2004 a new development was named Miller Close to celebrate the contribution that she and Norman made to the Society. She served as Chair for two years and in 2012 was appointed as honorary Life President. Marion’s last official function was to speak at the 50th anniversary lunch held in summer 2015 to mark her lifetime’s work.
